DBYD accreditation
All Locate And Detection Specialists (LADS) technicians are Dial Before You Dig (DBYD) certified. With this nationally recognised DBYD certification, you can be confident in the technician's ability to complete a thorough utility investigation. To gain this certification, technicians must pass a comprehensive theory and practical assessment with industry-selected professionals.
Theory
With the theory assessment, you need to show a broad knowledge of the safety procedures as well as the industry's standards. Technicians will also have to show an understanding of the requirements of the utility owners — for example, rules and regulations as well as duty of care.
Practical
During the practical assessment, the technician is to demonstrate correct locating procedures required to conduct a utility survey. The assessment is overseen by a DBYD assessor who then either passes or fails the practical.
